Welcome to the 2016 newsletter for Cymdeithas Pysgota Llandeilo Angling Association. We are looking forward to an enjoyable season, and hope all anglers enjoy access to our waters during the forthcoming season A Brief reminder:
Please ensure the following:
CONDUCT ON THE RIVER BANK Last season there were only a few complaints regarding your conduct on the riverbank which was a vast improvement on the 2014 season. It is important that you respect the land you are on when fishing and the landowner. Remember to close all the gates that you open and fasten them, do not take dogs with you in any circumstances (this happened in 2014). If you are asked give your name and permit number. Wait your turn to fish down a pool, do not go in front of another permit holder who is there before you and pay attention to the boundaries of the Association. We cannot control any cattle on the fields by the river banks, if you feel uncomfortable with cattle present then change location. CATCH AND RELEASE The response to our new rules in the 2015 season was excellent with 50% of the Salmon caught being returned to the rivers, with Sea Trout it was even better with a 70% return rate. The management Council wish to thank all of you who returned fish and a special thank you to those Permit Holders who released every fish that they caught of both species. That we as an Association can improve on these figures is in your hands as permit holders. The fisheries section of Natural Resources Wales (N R W ) are seriously considering introducing new Byelaws which will result in mandatory Catch and Release ( C & R ) of all Salmon caught and possibly Sea Trout as well. If we can show that on a voluntary basis we are practising C & R and respect for the future of our Sport, then we may be able to delay or even prevent the introduction of Compulsory C & R. We have made serious representations to the N R W regarding this and have pointed out that if we as anglers are to have C & R forced upon us then it must also apply to all the Netsmen on the rivers in Wales. We would encourage you to use barbless hooks and take a pliers to the hooks in your possession and flatten the barbs as well as using only one set of trebles on spinners. The Facebook page is open for comments at any time. We will also be advertising club activities which we hope will include work party days, and junior have a go at fishing lessons. We would welcome contributions as well as any reports on catches or fish seen. The website can be found www.llandeiloangling.co.uk . Day/Weekly Tickets and Junior Season Tickets. Junior tickets can be purchased from Price News Rhosmaen Street, for those who are under 16 years of age the cost is £1 per season. 16 to 18 year old tickets are also available and cost £15 per season. Adult Day and Weekly permits can also be purchased there. Cymdeithas Pysgota Tregaron Angling Association Ticket Swap. For many years we have had a 2 ticket swap with Cymdeithas Pysgota Tregaron Angling Association. They have access to many miles of the Upper River Teifi which can offer superb Brown Trout, Sea Trout and late season Salmon fishing. They can also offer lake fishing for Brown trout on Teifi Pools and Llyn Berwyn. The clubs website can be found at www.tregaronangling.com. New Fishing tackle seller in town: N Wall Jewellers in the Town centre sell items of fishing tackle as well as outdoor equipment and are worth a visit.
